  1. How many chain restaurants does it take for the City of Allen to realize we have enough already! Especially fast food places that specialize in chicken/chicken fingers! We have a Canes now we're about to have a Layne's moving in where Pollo Tropical failed. I can go on with the names of chain chicken places. Everywhere you turn is some fast food chain restaurant. How many more Taco Bells can one town have??? Maybe no one has really given this any thought or isn't that big of a deal. Maybe it's just me but why not something unique? How about what's considered trendy vs another Chic-fil-A or Wendys? Has anyone been to the Legacy Food Hall? Oh well...my wife and I will continue driving into Plano and Frisco spending our money there.
  2. Ammojohn...McDermott/Main...give me a break. FYI...the Mayor runs this city and everything negative that happens in this city is indeed his fault. That's the price you pay for being the Mayor.
  3. Wow that's a great idea Al C...why didn't I think of that! Man, I really feel dumb right now and my apologies for wasting your precious time. In fact, I think I've wasted my time trying to expose this issue in this forum. Enjoy your day.
  4. Per Mayor Terrell prior to the election, he promised that liquor stores would NOT be allowed to go in near churches, schools, daycares, etc. Well...guess that's typical political blab because a store at the corner of McDermott & Allen Heights will be opening soon going by the name Liquor 4U. FYI...this store's next door tenant in that small shopping strip is Pure Movement Dance and Fitness School. A dance school full of children under the age of 18. Oh wait...let's not forget about 2 churches that are also within throwing distance and a daycare that's not even a block down the road. Thank you Mayor Terrell for holding up your end of the bargain. How was this store allowed to get a license knowing that almost all of its neighbors are churches and businesses that are ALL about children??? What a shame for you and our city. You've lost my vote! Here's Mayor Terrell's comments from this past May. “The same standards work on liquor stores that work on any other restaurant or anything else,” he added. “You still have to be away from churches, day cares, schools, so all of that is part of it, too.” http://starlocalmedia.com/allenamerican/news/great-alcohol-debate-waged-in-allen/article_5c3ac190-123b-11e6-bb3b-1be68489c935.html

  6. IMHO, a donut is a donut and we don't eat too many in my house. If we do have a craving, I'm certainly not driving across town when I have a locally owned shop within walking distance.
  7. I didn't bother reading another word after she called our stadium stupid.
  8. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/video/10637933-allen-fire-chief-decision-called-sad-shameful/ You can form your own opinion.
  9. Free for me all the way from Bethany to 190 and lets hope they keep it that way. LOL
  10. I saw a baby Gecko this morning. Ran into the house as I opened the front door. Fortunately for the little fella, I was able to grab him as the cat prepared to lick his chops.
  11. Apologies for just now responding. The antenna is flat like a piece of paper. It comes with some Velcro adhesives so that you can hang it on your wall behind your TV. That's where I placed mine and it works great. You can't even see it.
  12. Would anyone be willing to recommend a maid? I'm not looking for a corporate service. I'd rather hire someone who's working for themselves. Please PM me if you have a name and number to share. Thank you
  13. AmazonBasics Ultra-Thin High Performance Indoor HDTV Antenna. This antenna (high performance model) is dual channel, UHF/VHF. In the $30 range. Anything cheaper is probably UHF only. You'll be able to pick 4, 5 and 11 plus others but channel 8 will require VHF. Good luck!
  14. We live a little further east in Round Rock...power flickered on and off a few times during the storm but that was it. Hopefully by now, power has been restored in your area! Have a Happy and Safe 4th!
