Allen Old Stone Dam

Recommended Posts

If you haven't been lately, the city invested $500k over the winter in preservation and improvements.  Looks really nice (minus the trash that has collected from up-creek after all the rain) and the water level is currently the highest I have ever seen.  I like to go out there on my lunch break sometimes to get away from the office.  The sound of the water eliminates all road noise from Exchange

2nd picture is a Panorama, you have to click it to see the whole thing

As someone mentioned somewhere else on here, they are also expanding that trail to go all the way under 75 and connect to Cottonwood Creek North Trail up to the Cinemark

They say that this trail is supposed to be completed by fall.  Already the don't have that much more to go to connect the trail from the dam to Rudy's at the Village in Allen.

You can park at Allen Station Park and follow the path under 75 or park on the side of the business park on the north side of Exchange and there is a path that goes straight to the dam

There was a story last night on the news about a boy who is organizing a clean-up of the trash around the dam.  http://on.wfaa.com/1M6s9vi

We rode our bikes on the path yesterday on our way to breakfast and you could tell someone had been cleaning up the area. There were bags of trash ready for pick up, it looked nice!

Is it ok to take a dip there? It looks like a fun little swimming hole for the kids.

I doubt you'd want to do that once you see the murky water up close.  I'd say it's really for looking at, rather than swimming.
